What to Expect
Before Your Appointment

During the Examination
- You will lie on a padded table while a scanner passes over the hip and spine.
- The test is noninvasive and usually requires no injection.
- You will need to remain still for clear measurements.

DEXA Safety & Result Context
DEXA uses a very low dose of ionizing radiation. Tell the facility about pregnancy or possible pregnancy. Bone-density results must be interpreted with clinical history and other risk factors.
